Whether you've been a subscriber for years, or this is the first time you've heard of PJ Library, welcome! We are pleased you are here. By now you've probably learned that PJ Library is an international organization that sends Jewish children's books to subscribers' homes every month FOR FREE.
If you are new to PJ you might be thinking, "Free? Really? But nothing is ever free. What's the catch?" I know it's hard to believe, but there isn't one. In partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts sends these books to homes across the Pioneer Valley to spark learning and conversation. Often times, when parents want to teach a new concept or idea to their children, they turn to books. Children learn so much about their world through stories. For many families with a Jewish connection, PJ Library books are the perfect "in" for opening up conversation about Jewish values and traditions.
At PJ Library Western Mass, our hope is that these conversations at home are just the beginning. The next step is venturing out into the community and connecting with other families. Beyond the books, PJ Library works with local parents, Jewish institutions, businesses, and artists to create engaging family programs that provide a meaningful Jewish experience and connection. It is in this way that PJ Library contributes to the growth and sustainability of our vibrant Pioneer Valley Jewish community.
With the introduction of this website, we aim to keep you apprised of upcoming programs, play groups, hikes, parent nights out, and other exciting opportunities to connect with other families. We also hope this blog provides you with ideas, information, and a deeper understanding of the Pioneer Valley Jewish Community. Continue to visit the blog to get to know your local PJ Library Coordinators, Neighborhood Captains, other parents, and local organizations.
